This cycle path is called Melaleuca Cycle Walk Trail. It will take you along the ocean edge of Wittecarra Creek. This path is also covered with wild flowers in wild flower season which makes it a beautiful scenic ride during the season. There are not too many land marks on this path such as shops or buildings. The ride is on a shared path.
This Ride Guide also leads onto other paths in the Kalbarri area. We have other ride guides for these as well. They are the Kalbarri Town Path and the Kalbarri Eco Flora path.
This ride follows the coast and passes some scenic areas. Feel free to deviate from our advised route and visit other areas. Most of all enjoy yourself.
At the start of the Path you will notice signs stating what you will see and how far things are. There is not an information sign at the other end of the path.
As you go a long this path you will cross gravel roads. These roads go through to the beaches so take care when riding off of the cement and also watch for vehicles which use these roads.
Soon you will come to a clearing which overlooks a beach. This beach is called Jacques Point. If you look further ahead you should see a lookout tower. This is the Rainbow Jungle parrot breeding centre. The lookout also has seating to take in the view.
After taking in the view, you can continue riding on down the path. Approaching the end you will be faced with a long sloping straight section. This section is great for just cruising down. As you are going down the slope, about half way on your left across the road you should see the signs for the Seahorse sanctuary.
When coming to the end of the path it will turn on to the main road. CAUTION! Be very careful not over shoot onto the road as there may be traffic approaching, so reduce your speed.
At this point you are right next to Wittecarra Creek. You can get onto the road and just past the creek you will come to another very small section of path. This path will take you to Red Bluff.
I would like to say thanks to the photographer “woolie50″ for the help with the photos. We also met a nice couple from the South West of Western Australia who were here enjoying their holiday and riding the trail.
