This ride is on a shared path that takes you the length of the main town area. It follows the river front, and passes the Pelican Feeding area, the Visitor Centre and the Voluntary Marine Rescue.
The paths we will be taking, go up through the main part of the town and the road alongside the path is called Grey Street. Along Grey Street there is a bicycle path on both sides of the road. You can take either one. We are going to take the right one (Park Side) because there is less road and drive way crossings in the path.
So to begin with, we are starting at the path thats near Clotworthy Street. That’s the old road out of Kalbarri, and behind you if you were facing into town is a road that leads down to the post office and the river, a good place to go mountain biking.
This Ride Guide also leads onto other paths in the Kalbarri area. We have other ride guides for these as well. They are the Kalbarri Melaleuca path and the Kalbarri Eco Flora path.
This ride follows the coast and also passes the shopping centre area. Feel free to deviate from our advised route and visit other areas. Most of all enjoy yourself. The photograph below shows the starting point for this ride.
The previous three photos show the first land marks across the road that you should see whilst riding. The caravan park called Murchison Park Caravan Park, which is on the corner of Woods Street. On the left you will see the Pelican Feeding area.
As you ride up the path you will pass the Visitor Centre on the left, which is on the other side of the road and a fish andd chip shop called Jaws. It’s a great place to get your fish and chips, fresh fish and good prices. A great place to go to refill the body (recommended).
Following the path around the bend and heading towards Ruston Street, you will notice on your right, down the slope towards the water, is the boat ramp and Voluntary Marine Rescue. Looking forward up the hill you will see the end of the town main bicycle path leading out of Kalbarri.
If you are at this point, you are at the end of the main path. If looking forward you will see the coastal bicycle path which is called Melaleuca Cycle-Walk Trail, which takes you out of Kalbarri and follows the new road and the coastal beaches and ocean. Looking back over your shoulder you will see were you have come from but that depends on which end you started the ride at.
