Finding Maps

Where possible in our ride guides we have used maps. This page lists some other resources for locating free maps online.

Free Online Resources

Perth's Bicycle Path Network - Perth has an excellent network of bicycle paths. The Western Australian Government's Department for Planning and Infrastructure (DPI) has released a series of maps of the Perth Bicycle network. There are some on line on their web site here and some in pdf format here.

The latest news on the Perth Bicycle Network, regarding new sections and detours, can be found on their web site under News. I would recommend checking it before planning a ride on Perth's Bicycle Network.

Perth and Western Australia - The Department of Land Information offer free maps for downloading. You can download a free map of the whole of Western Australia, the South West of Western Australia or the Perth Metropolitan area. Their page states that you can use these maps for school projects, reports, presentations or personal reference. If you are in the initial planning stages of your tour, these are a good reference for selecting routes, and seeing where major towns are. Their download page is here.

Other Resources

Munda Biddi Trail - Western Australia's first long distance off road cycle trail. Maps of the trail are available from book stores and map shops, tourist centres and many outdoor and bicycle retailers. They can also be ordered by downloading the order form from the Munda Biddi Trail Foundation's website.

Rail Trails - Rail trails are shared use paths usually using abandoned railway corridors. They can be used for walking, cycling and horse riding. RailTrails Australia has a large web site. See their Western Australian Trail Descriptions web page for more information.

Other Maps - I have a copy of the large map book "Roads & Tracks, Western Australia". This is an excellent resource. It shows distances, picnic areas, camping sites, and facilities available in each town or area. It is published by Quality Publishing Australia.

The only place that I have found where you can order it online is the Mapshop.
