Zefal Magnum Water Bottle

This is a review about the plastic 1 litre Zefal Magnum water bottle. I thought they were so good I purchased two of them.

This bottle fits a standard water cage holder, but holds 1 litre of liquid instead of the usual 750 ml. As long as there is enough clearance on your bike above your water bottle cage, this bottle will fit the cage. You also need a little bit of room to remove the bottle from the cage.

The bottle even has the same drink mechanism as other bottles on the top. You pull the drink mechanism up and take a drink then push it down to seal it.

Apart from the 1 litre capacity, what makes it such a good bottle? I have found with some of the cheap bottles, that to fill them you "pop" the top and fill.

It is this "pop" top that eventually fails as the plastic edge gets bent and the lid wont close properly. They then leak when placed in a water cage on the bike.

This is where the design of the Zefal Magnum is different. It has a screw top as shown in the photograph below. To fill the bottle, you unscrew the entire top, and fill. The neck is also very large, so ice blocks can be placed inside the bottle as well.

I also place an old sock around the bottle and wet the sock, which helps to keep the water cool in the bottle.

These bottles are light weight, hold 1 litre, have a screw top to fill them and I found them just as easy to drink from when riding as a standard bottle. I rate them a 10 out of 10.
