Malvern Star Transrack

After the last article that I did on a bicycle shop Bike Force in Geraldton, whilst I was there I ended up buying a bicycle rack to be fitted to a car.

Article by Crank

This rack is called a "Transrack" made by Malvern Star. It comes in two versions. A three bicycle version and a four bicycle version. I am writing this article about the three version type.

The bike Rack for the car

Malvern Star Transrack

It was all boxed up and everything was in there including the assembly instructions.

Features:

  • Available with standed base or curved base for extra clearance with 4WD vehicles.
  • Rated to carry 60kg (3 bicycle version)
  • Solid steel construction.
  • Padlock supplied for extra security
  • Suits most bike styles
  • plus many more features.
Holders

I found this rack easy to fit to a standard car. It took me about 10 - 15 minutes and the hardest thing that I had to do was to get the tow ball off, which was done up very tight.

On the car.

I did find out that the "Suits most bike styles" does not happen when I went to pick up some touring bikes which did not go on too well due to the frame and set up.

To over come this problem you need to get an "Adaptor Bar" which fits between the bike head and and the seat post.

All up I gave this bicycle Transrack 8 out of 10.

This is what the Transrack Adaptor Bar looks like to fit the above rack.
