Ride Guides
If we have a guide to a ride we will have it here. If it's not here, then sorry, we don't have it. For convenience, we have broken the rides up into Perth metropolitan, Country and Touring route sections. Touring Route information can be found in it's own section under Bicycle Touring Route.
Perth Metropolitan Rides
Perth has an excellent network of bicycle paths. It is possible to ride from the city of Perth, and head south alongside the freeway for nearly 40 kms. The WA Government's Department for Planning and Infrastructure has released a series of maps of the Perth Bicycle network. There are some on line here and some in pdf format here. The latest news on the Perth Bicycle Network, regarding new sections and detours, can be found on their web site here. I would recommend checking it before planning a ride.
It is quite possible if planning an extended tour to exit Perth along one of the paths heading North, South or East. There are a few gaps in places but in most cases a quiet back street can be used.
So if you are thinking of taking a ride somewhere? Use these Self Guided Tour Rides to explore Perth and other parts of the metropolitan area. We also have guides to getting out of the metro area and from the airports to the city.
North East out of the Metro area - This cycle path will eventually link Perth to Midland. At this stage the path is only continous to Bayswater Railway station. It is then possible to get to Ashfield and Bassendean via back streets. There are pieces of the path in place further along.
Getting From the Airports - Perth has two airports, which both use the same runway system. One is the Domestic which all internal flights depart from and arrive at, and the other is the International, which all international flights and the occasional domestic flight depart from and arrive at. The Domestic Airport is at one end of the runway, whilst the International is at the other end of the runway and some considerable distance away. The Domestic Airport is closer to Perth.
Going Bush - Safe Routes out of Perth -
If you are planning a ride to see the different parts of Western Australia, then you need to find a safe cycle friendly route out of Perth. Some of it can be done on Cycle Paths, or quiet back streets.
Around The River in Perth - This ride starts at the Bell Tower at Barrack Street Jetty, heads west to the Narrows bridge, crosses the bridge, and continues along the South Perth foreshore. It then crosses the Causeway, and returns back to the Bell Tower.
Heading South on the Freeway Cycle Path - This path starts in Perth City and continues south to the end of the Freeway.
- Part Two of heading south on the Freeway Cycle Path.
- Part Three of heading south on the Freeway Cycle Path.
- Part Four of heading south on the Freeway Cycle Path.
Country Rides

Kalbarri is situated on the coast, approximately 586 kms north of Perth. It is a popular tourist and fishing destination and is surrounded by the Kalbarri National Park and Murchison Gorge area.
