Parking a Touring Bike in a Standard Parking Rack

Parking a loaded touring bike by the front wheel into a standard bike parking rack, can damage your wheels or even your bike. This is because the weight of the loaded bike is putting stress on the front wheel, and the bike usually falls over and damages something.

If you have standard bike parking racks, you need to set them back from the wall, so that there is enough room to be able to get the bottom bracket area over the parking rack.

As shown in the above photograph, this method holds the bike by the bottom bracket part of the frame. However this may not work for bikes that have their gear cabling running down the front tube.
