Bicycle Touring Route
Welcome to the Bicycle Touring Route (BTR) of Western Australia.
This is an ambitious project to map water Point and bicycle touring routes for Western Australia. We have included water point information where possible. Some of the information here has been provided by other cyclists. Be aware that some of this information may be out of date.
Go Bicycle touring in Western Australia.
PLEASE NOTE - this is a work in progress. We are loading pieces of information and then writing it up properly. Some areas may have only basic information, but it is better that the information is available, than stuck in a file on a computer here. The parts not done, do not have a link. The route sections are as follows:
- SA Border to Balladonia - This leg of the Nullarbor ride is 536 kms.
- Balladonia to Norseman - This part of the route covers the last section of the Western Nullarbor Plain from Balladonia to Norseman. This used to be the longest unsupported distance on this road, but for cyclists, there is a possibility for resupply and camping about halfway.
- Norseman to Esperance.
- Balladonia to Esperance via Condinup
- Esperance to Albany
- Albany to Denmark - There are two routes to take on this leg of the route.
- Denmark to Walpole
- Walpole to Nannup via Pemberton
- Nannup to Augusta
- Augusta to Bunbury via Margaret River and Busselton
- Bunbury to Perth via Mandurah
- Bunbury to Perth via Pinjarra
- Perth to Dongara via Brand Highway - The shortest but busiest route from Perth to Dongara.
- Perth to Dongara via Brand Highway and Indian Ocean Drive
- Perth to Dongara via Lancelin and Cervantes
- Dongara to Geraldton - This can be a good ride if you are going the same direction as the wind.
- Geraldton to Northhampton - a short ride especially with a tail wind.
- Northhampton to Galena Bridge via Kalbarri - Starting in Northhampton, this route is an alternative route that takes you north to Galena Bridge via Kalbarri.
